I need to pick 1 WIP 15:18:47 From Jo-Anne to Everyone: just got in, I'm behind 15:19:38 From JC to Everyone: Near future England wh 15:20:02 From Mary to Everyone: real world where planets have unequal technological advancement and political importance within the frame of medieval feudalism. 🤣 Witches are pariah and exterminated, at the other pole are the warriors 15:20:31 From katharina to Everyone: Werewolves life with the human but the pubic doesn't know they exist expt for the hunters who want to wrap them out. 15:21:32 From Vanessa's iPhone to Host and Panelists: 19th century Brazil where humans can forms contracts with magical spirits. The partnership with these spirits keeps humanity alive as they survive the edge of the world they have been expelled to. 15:21:44 From Ami Bee to Everyone: While teetering on the precipice of extinction, our planet’s creators—the Earth Engineers— reveal themselves during a global broadcast after an event in which our reality collides with an alternate timeline. The Tellurian Kingdom is a world of myth, magic and legends. And the planetary pirates responsible are determined to pillage earth to the very end. 15:21:53 From Mary to Everyone: resources, wealth and power are inequally distributed. slavery exists. environment is at the brink of disaster 15:22:00 From John to Everyone: Medieval fantasy world divided into two separate cultures, the world above, similar to medieval Europe, though with fantasy races like elves & humans. And the world below, a hollow earth setting, where dark elves & goblins live. All have different cultures but all are ruled by the seven towers - ancient artifacts left from a long dead race of gods. 15:22:11 From John to Everyone: A few words over 50 15:22:15 From Lady Neo to Everyone: A magical world hidden within the human world. where , wizards, Witches and other magical being reside. There purpose is to maintain the balance of Light and dark no mater what the cost. Because if the don't the whole world is doomed 15:22:27 From Mary to Everyone: I guess we all looove medieval times 🤣 15:22:28 From Lady Neo to Everyone: beings* 15:22:38 From Lady Neo to Everyone: they* 15:22:42 From Vika Lekve/夏希 (she/her/hers) to Everyone: Two continents, mostly unaware of each other. One has slavery and genocide. The other does not, but does have magic. Protag is abducted and enslaved on other continent for magic farming. Will family and friends find Protag before it's too late? 15:22:45 From Joseph Hawkins to Everyone: In the land of Dershala, the world rages against man itself. Volcanoes, earthquakes, and harsh weather impede the growth of man. The cycles of weather remain haphazard and unforgiving, forcing people to rely on magic to tame it. 15:22:46 From Lady Neo to Everyone: Man cant spell 15:22:54 From Lee to Everyone: Victorian England where magic exists, categorized as elemental magics and esoteric magics. 15:22:58 From DATA_Jess to Everyone: My novel is about two natural lovers turned enemies in a magical society who learn to love each other again after learning to forgive themselves. The girl despises the boy because of misplaced grief. The boy despises the girl because of misplaced guilt. 15:23:07 From Sheri M to Everyone: Two cities, tucked into the mountains, is all that remains of the people of Earth. A utopia where the 1023 survivors of the downfall have cloned themselves in order to grow their population. One city steeped in nostalgia, the other, a shining city of technological marvel. There is a 3rd caldera, and a new vision to expand, but they may not be the only survivors. 15:23:17 From Lady Neo to Everyone: Cool Joseph 15:23:22 From PK Macy to Everyone: Eracrosi was created by an immortal in a pocket dimension with the use of a magical book of creation. His world is based on earth’s continents before the knowledge of tectonic plates with similar shapes. Volcanic activity is limited, and they don’t shift. Climate varies between the northern and southern hemispheres. 15:23:24 From Frances Doyle to Host and Panelists: Set in the 30th century on Earth. A world dictatorship happened due to the current Board in office refusing to leave after the election. Families disappeared. Fear governed the public. Anyone questioning was arrested and never heard of again 15:23:28 From Barry to Everyone: Populated by people taken from Earth, Ulakam is a once-united world where race/creed divides everyone. A few have magic, a few have technology, but most live in a medieval setting. 15:23:31 From JC to Everyone: Near future England. Many people escape the super recession by getting high on tranks, a zombie drug to escape rationing.. When all but 0.1% of the population become mind controlled, our protagonists must discover what's happening then find and stop the villain. 15:23:32 From CoffeeQuills to Everyone: The city is made up of three parts horizontally and vertcially. Vertically there’s the underground, gound, and air sections (waste/storaga, shopping/life, and residential). Horizontally there's an Outside Loop (farms, raches, etc.), Inside Loop (parks, museums, etc.), and the Loop itself, ground floor shopping, restaurants, etc, but residtental floors climbing upwards. Once a year, the Loop moves 1 section to the right and all the residential districts find themselves in a new commercial district. This year lakes, next year maybe beach, or plains. 15:23:33 From Letia to Everyone: A thousand years ago, to protect her people, a goddess trapped magic within the world and cast the titans and dragons who had crafted it to the heavens. Little did she know the consequences of her actions, for without magic, for without the harbingers of the water’s flow, the wind’s breeze, and the changing seasons, the world would fall into disarray. 15:23:36 From Juliana to Everyone: It’s 1500s Europe. Ghosts are real, and astrology is accurate. The Tenth Crusade has been cut short thanks to the arrival of God's Executioners, the Four Horsemen. The last remaining kingdom, Brevaria, is protected by a massive salt-filled circular trench, but every storm threatens to break its ward. 15:23:37 From Zita to Host and Panelists: S. is in constant twilight roamed by dark beings, E. gets light from two suns producing different climates managed by five Nobles who empower one of the five elements. Mortals and immortals populate both continents and are fighting for resources and power amongst each other and between each other. 15:23:41 From Megan Roth to Everyone: Periodically a natural phenomenon turns the red a brilliant scarlet red. This natural occurrence sparks a religious movement to rid the world of remnants of impure gods as the “sky bleeds” the true god’s displeasure. 15:23:47 From Brianne to Everyone: A world of old gods and repressed anger. While the warring gods were locked away, their power has slowly seeped into the landscape and the mortals. The cities are vast and look prosperous but the danger of the wilds and power hungry leaders keep the people worried about the growing unrest. 15:23:49 From David Woodruff to Everyone: Mere Ultima Champaign is a ringworld (an artificial structure and not an actual planet.) It’s a post-apocalyptic world like the tales of the Arabian Nights. Science has been replaced by magic—evil magic. The world tends to be human-centric. So, most of the characters you’ll meet are of human verity. 15:23:53 From Richard Van Kirk to Everyone: Wow! I just got in to the seminar. Some crazy runaround! 15:23:54 From Joseph M Kurtenbach to Everyone: Doraan is an island continent on a world where ocean storms make sea travel and trade nearly impossible. It's a land of magic, dragons, wyverns, mysterious immortals, wizards, and elemental creatures. 15:24:09 From Meghan T to Host and Panelists: My world feels like our world, but with magic instead of technology being the driving force (I wanted to lean away from the medieval fantasy vibe of most fantasies). Creatures in this world are a hybrid of known creatures in our world. There is a class system where mages (magic) being the highest and regs (regular people) being the lowest 15:24:15 From Joseph Hawkins to Everyone: Thanks @Lady Neo 15:24:54 From Dennis Powers to Everyone: Carter's world is a lost modern colony located on a metal-poor moon orbiting a gas giant in the binary star system. Life on land is benign but uneatable whereas the seas are filled with monsters. 15:25:04 From Ben Riddick to Everyone: Aylencia is a world scorched by time and war. With half the land uninhabitable from the last Terran uprising and humanity forced into a small sect of land, life is hard for those without an immortal lifespan. Humans are consistently oppressed without the majority of the common immortals even knowing. 15:25:05 From Maighan Hunt to Everyone: There is a world desperate and broken, but life moves on. The ravages of history cling in the shadows threatening to reveal themselves. To societies who relied on one way to do things, this history will awaken hungry for vengeance. 15:25:08 From Johanna Haas, SFF to Everyone: The world is much like ours, the difference is only barely by a slice. The world is a hair closer to magic than ours is. Some small magics really work. The veil is really there to open on Halloween and Bealtine. At these times, fae things can slip into our world. 15:25:20 From Sheri M to Everyone: Seriously, I would read all of these. 15:25:30 From CoffeeQuills to Everyone: ^^ they all sound exciting! 15:26:29 From Laura Todd to Everyone: Can the prompt go into the chat so I can copy/paste and remember later what I was trying to do? 15:26:39 From JC to Everyone: 1. Radio frequency mind control 15:26:48 From Yalimed Nanasi to Everyone: Another one is that children under 17 can't use magic outside of school grounds. 15:27:03 From Jace to Everyone: I hope she's going to give a worksheet for this session. 15:27:16 From Barry to Everyone: 1. Technology is controlled by one isolated group 15:27:21 From Hayley @ ProWritingAid to Everyone: Write down five rules for your world. Again, these rules can relate to any part of your world. Dream big here! The rules might have to do with different creatures (perhaps a dangerous species that only comes out at night) or relationships (perhaps two peoples have a long history of conflict) or what's right and wrong (perhaps murder is okay in your world as long as it's justified). 15:28:03 From Mary to Everyone: Witches are considered dangerous and exterminated. Anyone reporting a witch is generously repaid. 15:28:29 From CoffeeQuills to Everyone: On Moving Day (when the residential districts of the Loop move one section to the right), people are not allowed to be inside their homes. 15:28:55 From Mary to Everyone: Magic is a technology, especially for healing the poor. 15:29:44 From Maighan Hunt to Everyone: Have to leave for another meeting - see you all later! 15:29:45 From Mary to Everyone: Relationships between ppl from the same sex are punishable by death 15:30:25 From Pam Bennett to Everyone: 1. Magic is divided into elemental domains, each ruled by distinct magical traditions. 2. The Enchanted Gauntlet is held every decade--a prestigious tournament where contestants compete for mastery of the Elderstone. 3. Witches weild elemental and spellcasting magic, often trained in magical academies in Eldorium. 4. The Great Spellbinding reshaped the magical landscape, leading to a fragile balance between elemental forces. 15:30:44 From Mary to Everyone: Warriors could not have attachments, think Templars 15:31:01 From Sheri M to Everyone: 1. Each clone is assigned the same job as their original. 2. Hierarchy depends on how many of the original's memories someone is born with. 3. Not having any memories makes someone an outcast. 4. Citizens do not interact with the outcasts, who are given jobs out of public view. 5. All "like" clones live together. 15:31:04 From Lady Neo to Everyone: Those who use their magic for evil harming the humans or earth shall be deemed an unwanted and cast out of the magical Community 15:31:09 From Frances Doyle to Host and Panelists: Don't ask questions. Those who question disappear. Stay in the area designated by the government. Social levels do not mix. Those perceived to be troublemakers disappear. 15:31:15 From JC to Everyone: 1. Radio frequency mind control 2. Tranks, a drug that makes you like a zombie. 3. Wealthy people live in gated communities with tight security. 4. Peak loading so electronic devices stop being as popular. 15:31:24 From Joanne Reid to Everyone: Magic interferes with electrical fields Magic is not completely inheritable. Dwarves can walk through stone and soil unimpeded, but avoid water Annual migration Bad guys have been chasing Elves across the universe, but use others to do their dirty work 15:31:26 From Mary to Everyone: Sorry, challenging with ADHD to put all together 🤣 15:31:44 From Barry to Everyone: 1. Technology is controlled by an isolated group 2. Magic is reserved for those selected by symbionts 3. The powerful rule 4. Trade is constrained by guilds and mafias 5. The one who might bring everyone together is hated 15:31:50 From Sheri M to Everyone: Admittedly, I'm writing a dystopian scifi at the moment, but I also write fantasy, I'm just sticking with my current WIP. 15:32:20 From Maria L to Everyone: Farm communities are the only ones aloud to have magic. Barter systems are used. People who can't physically do work are encouraged to go into tech or management. Must have permission to leave cities. 15:32:21 From Letia to Everyone: 1. Throughout history, whomever has held the most magic has been the most powerful. Conal, The Dragons and Titans, The Lady, The Kings, and then finally the Magi. 2. The magic trapped within the world is both the biggest threat and the greatest need, the people on the world’s surface must access it or risk losing all. 3. The seals the goddess trapped the world under are, secretly, doors. There are keys to opening them, but no one remembers this. 4. The return of the dragons and the titans heralds the return of balance. 5. Though often seen as “evil” because magic is power, there is a level of necessity to it and learning how to balance the world will bring true harmony. 15:32:21 From Ben Riddick to Everyone: 1. Humans and the Immortal Strigoi (evolved humanity) are constantly at odds with one another. 2. Overuse of magical abilities drives the user mad. 3. Dragons, while extinct, their artifacts are sacred to ALL races. 4. Travel across borders is dangerous only for non-immortals. 5. The town of Drachenport is the ONLY completely neutral zone on the continent. 15:32:22 From Vika Lekve/夏希 (she/her/hers) to Everyone: 1. People on magic continent are divided by the climate they evolved into. 2. People can mimic the evolutions, but they're never quite the same. 3. Mastering anything must be tedious. 4. You must have one assassination to become an official guard. 5. People live in different, unique homes based on the climates they live in. 15:32:35 From DATA_Jess to Everyone: 1. Children are given their real names on their 13th birthday. It reflects their abilities 2. Purists (Air, Water & Earth tribes) should not procreate with each other 3. (It's where the terrors reside.) 15:33:11 From Joseph Hawkins to Everyone: In the beginning of time, the land and Quizanth was at peace with humans, but as people grew and harvested from the land the Quizanth strengthened. Quizanth also invades food, and rituals must be performed to cleanse food before consumption. Quizanth is strongest in the forests, and people never enter for fear of their lives. The world invested in their people. A global democracy happened. Two hundred years later, the current leaders said no. They refused to leave. Through terror and purges the rulers created their power that lasted into the 30 th century. I want to release each of them as novellas to deepen the world for readers, but not be essential to the story itself. There are 10+ origin stories, most are acting as religions. It's normal for everyone to practice parallelism. Only one is monotheistic origin story, and the others are polythetic origin stories or no deities. One of the major themes within the book is how religious tolerance is normal. 16:03:43 From Joseph Hawkins to Everyone: From the void sprang for the realm of Dershala. The land surged in shape and form, growing from a tiny island a vast sea to a continent of grass and plants. Dershala began to flow with the life blood of Quizanth, the spark of creation. It flexed and stretched, making mountains to greet the sun. The Quizanth flowed through all creation. Dershala became lonesome after many eons of growing and showing off to the heavens. It allowed a small amount of Quizanth to flow free, and the first creatures were born. Dershala enjoyed the feel of their feet running across the great landscapes it had created. New and curious forms sprang forth according the climate and zone. Dershala was pleased, but still felt alone. At the culmination of a great sea and mountain, it spun a pool of Quizanth and formed for first people. 16:04:11 From Casey Cooper to Everyone: for some reasom it won't let me paste 16:04:28 From Mary W. Jensen to Everyone: Bentos and Delwyn were alone in the sky, only the silent stars to keep Them company. They created an earth and creatures to fill it, for Their entertainment. At least that’s how the story goes. In truth, this planet existed before the Sky Gods noticed it. It was inhabited by the fae and their gods, the Old Ones, cousins of Bentos. But of course, in their high and mighty oversight, the Sky Gods chose this planet as their home, creating the Realm of Dust and the human race to inhabit it. Bentos and Delwyn pushed the fae back into their Gloaming Realm, a liminal space below the surface. 16:04:35 From Vanessa's iPhone to Host and Panelists: In the ages of old humanity lived alongside otherworldly beings called the others. However murder and ambition led to humanity’s expulsion. The others intended to drive humanity to the edge of the world, the place where all life came to an end. Humanity tried to defend itself, but they were no match for the magic of the others until the savior made the first contract with a spirit, granting humanity magic and the ability to fight back. 16:04:44 From Lady Neo to Everyone: Same i have to type it in here 16:04:52 From Frances Doyle to Host and Panelists: I thought to do that , but then decided to type into the chat. 16:04:58 From David Woodruff to Everyone: Ages and ages ago, this was a lush world of unimaginable delights. Until two sides warred with each other. They laid waste to a vast region now known as The Wastes. The destructive power they unleased was so enormous it created powerful magics and gave birth to horrors. The survivors are now hunted by those who walk but do not live, who hate the living and have been killing since the Great Event. 16:05:14 From PK Macy to Everyone: Gothimar, an immortal, found the Book of Creation. He traveled through the cosmos examining various planets. He used the book to create a pocket dimension and within it he created a world based on some of the worlds he visited (including earth.) He then created his son, referred to as the “eldest.” He gave his son the same powers he controlled except the ability to affect time. Together they populated the world by pulling various races from the universe. Elves, gnomes, goblins, orcs, humans, giants. Seeing the problem with trying to have everything run smoothly, Gothimar created a daughter and 5 more sons to help maintain the world. Each was given power and each granted the opportunity to create their own pantheon to help them with the things they were given to control. The “Children” of Gothimar were allowed to pull fauna and flora, minerals and gems, and other things from the universe into the pocket world of Eracrosi (World named after the 3 sons governing the earth, sea and sky.) 16:05:31 From Lena M Pate to Host and Panelists: In my world, the characters are magical but Princess Alivia didn’t know this. She is being protected by 12 Warrior Fairies, that are the size of humans. A battle takes place in the attempt to get their hands on Alivia. She watches as her parents are killed and the castle and villages burnt to the ground. Alivia is whisked away to the land of Brightenbeam where she must accept training and accepting her status as the White Earth Sorcerous who must collect amulets for the last battle to keep the world safe from the release of the evil sealed many yeas before and trapped beneath the tree of life. If he is released the end of both the magical and human worlds will cease to exist. 16:05:31 From PK Macy to Everyone: The eldest rebelled against his father and created his own pantheon and attempted to take control of the world. This led to the Game of the gods. 16:05:37 From DATA_Jess to Everyone: Origin story according to one of the many Nitayaran tribes (Air people) First there was Scidhi, a spirit of passion and rebirth. In her natural form, she is air. The air we breathe, the air that surrounds us and the air that plays with us. In her physical form, she is a fire and she is a dragon. Scidhi loved the abandoned people of the planet so much that she left a piece of her self. She filled the planet with her passions. And it is with this that the people are able to wield their abilities. They believe one day this will run out. If Scidhi doesn’t return in time, only the worthy can ascend to the gods 16:05:42 From Casey Cooper to Everyone: Thank you Hayley lots of fun 16:05:47 From CoffeeQuills to Everyone: Whew 16:05:52 From Lady Neo to Everyone: wow 16:05:53 From Johanna Haas, SFF to Everyone: The two worlds – human and fae – used to be one. But back in the deep past, millions of years ago perhaps, the two splintered apart. They have been joined and separated by the opening and closing of various veils at various times and places around the world. The last veil that we know of opened in Europe with the Fall of Rome and was closed through the acts of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. Other veils may have opened in other places around the world that we don’t know about because they didn’t keep written records or they chose not to tell us about them.
